Week 50: Icebergs

Icebergs.
Not the type of snow in the freezing cold.
The kind in the dying hot sun of Honduras.
Those which we all have.... beliefs we hold dear, fears we don`t dare let go of nor express, desires we wish we could only share...
What does it take to find the bottom of iceberg?
The Spirit
To see a rebellious teenager cry as we told her that yes, we pray for her.
For a grown lady with a painful past go to church for the first time, start making changes, and admit that she needs to let go of hatred that she feels for some people before she feels worthy to be baptized.
A man who knows A LOT of doctrine insist to know why he should pray, if really Heavenly Father would bother to communicate with him now that he`s here in earth.
To laugh crazily on divisions with another North American, Hna. Ventura, as she jokes that if she gets called to young women`s, she`ll havenightmares, and that the best part of being nursery teacher is you get to tell them your problems. and snack time.
To gain a testimony of the power of fasting. When usually the assistence is 80-90, but we fast for 120 and the asistence soars to 136. Having faithisn`t as scary as I thought it would be.
To learn that knowledge isn`t testimony, through working with a member who knows a LOT, but whose testimony is in great jeapordy. The lesson is poignant--that knowledge does not constitute a testimony. Does not define conversion
To know that on that one-day-division, I missed my companion something terrible.
The surprise that I actually LOVE speaking ONLY in Spanish.
The love, great love, great respect I have for my little Guatemalan companion. That we grow together every day, we push each other, wepractice in comp study, we laugh, we fall in mud and laugh harder, we get soaked and laugh, we throw water on each other and laugh harder, we pause before we pray, we pray harder. we fast the first Sunday, we put more faith and fast harder.
The feeling that everything about this change equals perfection.
