Week 32: our love goes on and on

Hmmmm..... big week.
Found LOTS of new investigators, and families! Granted, we have to have our next meetings with them, but we found èm! They let Hermana Tolliver and I out in the big wild of Honduras. Yeah, it`s crazy. Two gringas out in the big city of San Pedro Sula,

OH, HILARIOUS story of the week! So, we have this security guard we`re teaching, on and off. He`s not a steady investigator, but when we are there and he`s there, we teach him. Anyway, we felt it was time to step it up and see if he`s going to progress or not, so give him more focused attention. We went with a member. This story was both hilarious and a testimony builder, but not for the same reason. First, built my testimony that without a doubt, regular, non-missionary members of the church have far more power and influence than they realize. When we teach him, he listens and pays attention, but just doesn`t show a real desire to progress. We wanted to visit him with members before we stopped teaching him, though. Give him a real opportunity. We went with a member who is just ADORABLE! He`s older, kids are grown, wife served a mission years ago, and he was baptized and joined the church through her influence. But he is FAITHFUL! So, we went with him. First, we reviewed the lesson with him beforehand (Preach My Gospel video style.) He was really good about his part, and then we gave him the pamphlet of the lesson to read, just in case he wanted to review it and get it in his mind. Welll, we went to the lesson, and he just read the pamphlet instead of talking his own words. ADORABLE. Then, without a blink of an eye, he asked the investigator, Ismael, `So, are you going to come to church on Sunday?`Note: We have been WORKING with him to just come to church. He`s good until Saturday night, and then drops the bomb that oh, he has work and couldn`t find someone. Always excuses. But with the member, he changed and said, `Well, yes.` So, testimony of members having far more power. The gringas missionaries or person that lives in his same neighborhood and will see him every week. Who has more influence? The members!
Hilarious part: we taught First Vision. He then told us how he had seen God, and was wearing a sombrero and a black jacket.
I almost lost it with him, I was so close to laughing and busting a gut. Oh..... some of Heavenly Father`s children.... I love them.
When else is there the opportunity to stand in front of a house and shout, `Good!!!` (`Buenas!`) or the equivalent of `Good morning!`
Then.... there was an amazing lesson of visiting teachers. I always kinda... did it out of obligation, but didn`t like it. Now... it`s like missionary work continued,. Can`t wait to do it.
The week was a roller coaster of Miriam, if she is going to leave her boyfriend, or stay and get married. Can I just say... my heart hurts for her. I just want to wave a magic wand and make her pain go away, just want her to live the law of chastity and just... be so happy. I never realized how invested I could be in the life of someone who, a month ago, I didn`t know. Now... we`re dealing with her eternity, depending if we can bring the spirit into her home, teach her in a way that she can feel the desire to change, repent, get married, and live so happy for all eternity. I thought I was heartless, but gosh, she`s got a part of my heart invested in her life. Every one.

We had a new investigator, Roy, come to church. He was the friend of a recent convert that we talked to while we were visiting the recent convert (whose name is FIDEL CASTRO. No joke. His father was communist and loved Fidel Castro....) Anyway, I love how the work moves along. finding news, teaching, baptizing, retaining, sharing the work... it goes on and on and on.

New missionaries come today!  So excited to have htem sleep in our housE!
